Sergei Golovnya

— a jazz composer and arranger, and a virtuoso on every type of saxophones. He was introduced to music as a child. He excelled at his first music school, and then graduated from the jazz school on Ordynka Street and the Moscow University of Culture.

Golovnya has a rich and nuanced understanding of jazz. He has performed at many international jazz festivals, collaborating with legendary Russian and foreign jazz musicians, including Johnny Griffin, Eddie Henderson, James Spaulding, Lew Soloff, Valery Ponomaryov, Vagif Sadykhov, German Lukyanov, the Lundstrem Orchestra and Yakov Okun's MosGorTrio. In 2013, Sergei released the album "The Lord Is Good."
