Proceeds from the Koktebel Jazz party used to renovate Koktebel school yard

Proceeds from ticket sales at the 2015 Koktebel Jazz Party that were donated to local School No. 1 were used to renovate and landscape the school's inner yard. The effort is nearly completed, the school's acting principal Sergei Zhiradkov told RIA Novosti (Crimea). "The inner yard area has been renovated. Old tiles were removed, soil was stabilized, and the foundations were renovated. We installed new tiles and drainage covering. Recent rains have shown the drainage system works very well. We also installed metal benches," Zhiradkov said.

The acting principal also said that a small amount was spent on fire safety, including a new fire point stand with the first response fire equipment, such as a sand box, a crowbar, spades, buckets etc, and fire extinguishers.

"Funds that were earmarked for the school repairs have been used in full," Zhiradkov said adding that spending was open and transparent in full cooperation with the school's board of trustees and under the direct supervision of Krasny Kvadrat, the Koktebel Jazz Party festival's sponsor. All documents related to repairs are available on the school's website.

The Koktebel Jazz Party international festival was held on August 28-30, 2015 in Koktebel. The brand name is owned by Rossiya Segodnya, while the event itself was sponsored by Krasny Kvadrat. The All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company served as the chief partner with support from the Russian Ministry of Culture.

Speaking at the festival opening in 2015, Rossiya Segodnya Director General Dmitry Kiselev told the audience that all the proceeds that year would go to Koktebel School No. 1. Krasny Kvadrat transferred the funds in January 2016. The school's board of trustees determined the spending priorities.
